Thanks for your inquiry about the Rubissow-Sargent 2001 Merlot.

The Rubissow-Sargent brand no longer exists, as my sister and I have renamed our winery Rubissow.
The final vintage of R-S was 2003. The 01s were excellent.

Assuming the wine has been well stored at a relatively even temp, it should be in good shape.
Initially I would expect the wine to taste a bit "tight" when first opened.
After a few minutes "breathing" in the glass it will transform to a more delicious version of itself.
Expect dry, herbal/floral notes, mint, plum, cherry flavors and good acidity.

So, in sum I would say the wine should be at its peak right now!
